- Lead Litigation Paralegal
Description
LITIGATION PARALEGAL / LEGAL OPERATIONS LEAD In-House | Los Angeles or Adjacent | Full-Time
About the Role
We are building a small, elite in-house litigation team to prosecute and defend multi-front cases involving lender liability, bankruptcy fee disputes, securities violations, and civil rights. This is not a document review factory. This is a strategic seat at the table — working directly with the CEO, lead counsel, and expert witnesses on high-profile matters with landmark potential.
We are looking for a litigation paralegal with a JD degree (preferred) who wants to do meaningful work at the intersection of law, technology, and justice.
What You'll Do
- Manage case administration across multiple active litigation fronts (state court, federal bankruptcy court, regulatory complaints, and offensive civil actions)
- Draft and coordinate court filings, declarations, motions, and discovery responses
- Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries, timelines, and evidence indices
- Coordinate with outside counsel, expert witnesses, and regulatory agencies
- Maintain and evolve a litigation command center (web-based case management dashboard)
- Assist with deposition preparation, hearing preparation, and trial support
- Leverage AI-powered legal tools (Claude, CoCounsel/Westlaw) as daily force multipliers — training provided
- Support bar complaints, malpractice actions, and regulatory filings
- Manage deadlines, service lists, and filing compliance across multiple jurisdictions
What We're Looking For
- JD degree strongly preferred; paralegal certificate with substantial litigation experience considered
- 5-7 years of litigation experience, ideally including any of: lender liability, commercial litigation, bankruptcy, securities, or tort
Experience with California state court and/or federal court filing procedures - Strong legal writing and research skills
- Comfort with technology — willingness to learn and actively use AI tools in daily workflow is a requirement, not optional
- Organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple concurrent deadlines without hand-holding
- A genuine motivation for justice and public benefit — this role involves cases with a legal reform and social good dimension
What Makes This Different
You are not a cog in a machine. This is a 4-6 person team where your voice and creative ideas don't just matter but are required. Your work directly shapes outcomes. The cases involve institutional bad faith by a major financial institution, professional fee accountability in bankruptcy, and precedent-setting questions about lender liability and fiduciary duty.
You will work with cutting-edge AI tools that no other litigation team in the country is deploying at this level. If you've ever wanted to see what AI-augmented legal practice actually looks like, this is it.
There is a strong social good and legal reform component. The work exposes systemic problems in how bankruptcy professionals self-regulate and how overcollateralized lenders exploit the legal system.
Career growth: as the team scales, this role grows into a leadership position overseeing additional hires.
Compensation
Base salary: $100,000 - $150,000 depending on experience
Annual performance bonus: up to 200% of base salary, tied to case outcomes
1099 independent contractor structure with tax planning flexibility
Expenses reimbursed
Location
Los Angeles or adjacent communities. Hybrid arrangement possible for the right candidate.
To Apply
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter explaining why this role interests you and what motivates you about justice-oriented legal work.
