With a proud legacy of service worldwide, the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) offers three distinct paths to practice law as a military officer:
- Summer Internships for law students
- ActiveDuty Service for fulltime leadership and practice
- Army Reserve for parttime service alongside a civilian career
2027 Summer Intern Program (2Ls)
A paid, fullsummer, inperson internship for U.S. citizens at ABAaccredited law schools. Work with Army JAG attorneys in diverse fields—national security, military justice, contract law, civil litigation, and more.
- Locations: U.S. and limited overseas offices
- Pay: GS07 level (locality rates apply check rates at www.opm.gov)
- Commitment: No military obligation after completion

ActiveDuty Judge Advocate (3Ls, 4Ls)
Serve fulltime as a military attorney with worldwide placement.
- Pay: Starting salary $151K+, including benefits and rankbased incentives
- Practice Areas: National security, cyber, contract, administrative, criminal, and appellate law
Army Reserve Judge Advocate (3Ls, 4Ls, Graduates)
Serve parttime while maintaining your civilian career.
- Commitment: One weekend per month, two weeks annually
- Pay: $7,800–$11,700 per year plus benefits
- Practice Areas: Courts-martial, contracts, administrative hearings, and specialized fields (international, tax, family, estate law)
