Job Description:
This job is responsible for providing legal counsel and regulatory guidance related to fixed income derivatives products, futures, cleared OTC and repo within Global Markets while supporting strategic business initiatives and regulatory developments. Key responsibilities include advising on fixed income derivatives, clearing, futures and cleared repo and OTC activities, analyzing legal and regulatory matters impacting products and services, negotiating complex legal documentation, and coordinating with business partners and external counsel. Job expectations include managing legal risk, supporting regulatory examinations and investigations, maintaining documentation standards, exercising independent judgment on complex legal matters, and contributing to the development of team members while collaborating across global legal and business teams.
Responsibilities:
- Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and advises on ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support documentation, risk participation arrangements, bespoke transaction confirmations and ancillary documentation supporting the Rates and Foreign Exchange businesses
- Provides legal advice regarding licensing, documentation, and transaction structuring matters supporting the U.S. and Latin America Rates and FX businesses
- Advises on regulatory requirements applicable to swap dealer, securities-based swap dealer, futures, and clearing activities, including rules administered by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, National Futures Association, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority
- Supports the development and implementation of U.S. Treasury clearing and other fixed income clearing initiatives
- Works closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Credit, and business partners globally to support fixed income derivatives and clearing activities
- Analyzes legal issues and implications on products, services, and regulatory matters related to the Global Banking and Global Markets businesses
- Communicates clear, concise, actionable, and business-informed legal advice, including occasionally to leadership
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates complex legal documents and legal opinions related to derivatives, clearing, and capital markets activities
- Directs the work of outside legal counsel and may coordinate the work of other Legal staff such as Paralegals and trains, mentors, or supports the development of peers
Required Qualifications:
- Familiarity with fixed income derivatives products
- Familiarity with futures clearing, treasury clearing and FCM regulations and documentation.
- Experience with US CFTC and SEC rules
Desired Qualifications:
- 4 years plus experience at major law firm, bank, or similar institutional experience.
- Familiarity with some institutional broker-dealer and banking businesses and products.
- Candidate should be a self-starter, quick learner and must be able to work independently and proactively.
- Candidate should be someone who can handle multiple complex assignments and navigate a large institution.

Pay and benefits information
Pay range
$175,000.00 - $259,700.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
Discretionary incentive eligible
This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
