Charles R. Ullman & Associates is seeking a motivated and professional attorney to join our growing family law practice in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Our firm focuses exclusively on family law matters, including custody, equitable distribution, alimony, child support, domestic violence, separation agreements, mediation, and trial litigation. We are seeking an attorney with 1–5 years of legal experience, preferably including family law or litigation experience, who is looking to develop strong litigation skills and grow within an established practice.
This position offers the opportunity to work directly with complex family law matters while receiving mentorship and guidance from a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law. The position offers substantial client contact and early courtroom responsibility for the right candidate. The ideal candidate is thoughtful, organized, client-focused, and interested in developing into a strong courtroom advocate.
Responsibilities
Manage family law cases from initial consultation through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, agreements, and correspondence
Conduct legal research and prepare case strategy recommendations
Attend mediations, hearings, and court appearances
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
Prepare clients for hearings, mediations, and trial
Assist with trial preparation and litigation strategy
Maintain accurate case management and billing records
Qualifications
Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar
1–5 years of legal experience
Family law or litigation experience preferred
Strong legal writing and analytical skills
Courtroom experience preferred
Excellent communication and client relationship skills
Strong organizational and time-management abilities
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities
Professional judgment and attention to detail

Requirements
Licensed and in good standing with the North Carolina State Bar, or eligible for admission to practice in North Carolina
1–5 years of legal experience
Family law and/or civil litigation experience preferred
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to draft pleadings, motions, discovery, agreements, and client correspondence with attention to detail
Strong oral advocacy and communication skills
Courtroom, hearing, or mediation experience preferred
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast-paced practice
Sound professional judgment and strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
Professional, responsive, and client-focused approach to representation
Strong work ethic and commitment to developing as a family law litigator
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general legal case management technology
The ideal candidate is motivated to develop substantial courtroom experience and to grow long-term within a respected family law practice.
