Description
Title: Family Law Attorney — Charlotte, NC (Confidential Search)
Schap's Sourcing is running a confidential search for an established Charlotte firm that needs a family law attorney who can run their own docket from day one. Divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution. Real court time, not a feeder role for someone else's cases.
The Firm — A small firm with family law sitting alongside personal injury and criminal defense. That's not an accident. Family law and criminal defense pull from the same fact patterns, since domestic violence and assault allegations show up in both, and the overlap means real collaboration across practice groups, not siloed departments. Business casual, no tracked hours, no micromanagement.
The Work — full ownership of a family law docket (divorce, custody, support, equitable distribution), real courtroom time, direct collaboration with the firm's criminal defense attorneys on overlapping cases.
Who Fits — licensed to practice in North Carolina; 3-6 years of family law experience is the target, but the firm will go to partner level for the right attorney and will pay more for someone bringing an existing book of business; comfortable working independently with heavy subject matter. The docket includes contested custody, abuse allegations, and domestic violence. The team uses dark humor to get through it. That's expected, not a red flag.
Compensation & Benefits — compensation is negotiable, based on experience and whether you bring an existing book of business; 50% employer health match; 3% SIMPLE IRA match; 15 days PTO; remote flexibility for non-client-facing work; a real path to partnership, not a "someday" promise.
How to Apply — the firm isn't named here. This is a confidential search. Email your resume to greg@schapssourcing.com and he'll walk you through the details.
